Why should I care about physics? Dr Catalina Curceanu

Date: August 28, 2018
Time: 8pm

University of Tasmania
Physics Lecture Theatre 1, Sandy Bay Campus

From atoms to cancer therapy and more! Dr Catalina Curceanu returns to Tasmania all the way from Frascati, Italy and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics to talk about what a wonderful world it is we live in.

We have learned about atoms, Higgs bosons, black holes and the Big Bang; we have internet, computers, satellites, GPS and so many amazing technologies! Who needs more? But how do they work? One may think we should not care about the physics beyond technology; it is not our business how technology works! But this is not true! Amaz-ing things happen if we try to understand the physics behind our technology.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from this world leading scientist.

With thanks to the Australian Institute of Physics.

Free entry, all welcome.
