Introduction to Orienteering
Thursday 16 Apr & Saturday 16 May, 10-11.30am
Want to improve your navigation skills for bushwalking? Interested in giving the sport of orienteering a try? Through a variety of activities you will improve your map reading and compass skills and learn some navigation tricks from a former Orienteering Australia Coach of the Year. By the end of the activity you will be able to orienteer anywhere in the world! Suitable for all levels of fitness and experience, including beginners.
Meet: Knocklofty Reserve, gravel carpark at top end of Forest Road, West Hobart
Cost: $5.50 per participant
Adventure with Bat Girl
Friday 8 May, 5-6.30pm
Get ready for a batty family evening with local bat expert Dr Lisa Cawthen, Tasmania’s very own Bat Girl! Join us for a batastic time where you’ll play some batty games, discover some batty facts, try your hand at being a bat biologist using high-tech bat detectors and discover how we can all help to look after our little batty friends.
Bring: A torch and warm clothes
Meet: Waterworks Reserve, just inside the gate on Waterworks Rd, Ridgeway (please park outside the gate as the gates will be locked during the activity)
Cost: $8 per person (includes supper)
Where Our Wild Things Are
Friday 22 May, 6-7.30pm
At night a whole other world of creatures come out to play in our bushland! We will go for a night walk to see where our wild things are and you will get some handy hints for spotting creatures of the night when you go on your own spotlighting adventures.
Bring: A torch and warm clothes

Bookings are essential for all Bush Adventures. For enquiries and bookings please contact the City of Hobart on 6238 2886 (BH). Payments made by credit card incur a 1% surcharge.
Activities may be cancelled in the event of unsuitable weather conditions (such as severe fire danger) or unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs a refund or credit will be given.
For all activities please bring a drink and wear suitable clothing, solid shoes and a hat.
