Living in a Warmer World- Free public lecture by Dr Jim Salinger

A public lecture by Dr Jim Salinger discusses emerging climate change impacts as pertaining to the world and New Zealand, documented in a new book, Living in a Warmer World, edited by Dr Salinger, with eight chapters by Australian authors, three from Hobart. Evidence from some of the world’s leading scientists details recent large changes in the world’s glaciers and wildlife.
This lecture will highlight significantly new information on how a hotter planet is affecting our food supplies, fisheries and agriculture, access to fresh water and public health. From these specifics, a clearer picture emerges of how our planet is changing and how this will affect our lives. Jim will discuss what we are doing now to help plan for – and adapt to – our future, including examining the political and ethical issues around making changes on both national and global scales.
Dr Jim Salinger CRSNZ holds a PhD in climate science from Victoria University of Wellington. He is the 2014 Visiting Scholar, at the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Sciences at University of Tasmania, and was in 2012 the Lorey Lokey Visiting Professor at Stanford University. Jim is a very well-known communicator of climate change information.
