Both the intimate problems of our lives and the world’s greatest ecological concerns are rooted in the same problems: the delusions of ownership and the illusion of control. In patriarchy men have claimed to own women’s bodies and, similarly, since the invention of agriculture, humans have claimed to own the earth. Professor Jensen, University of Texas at Austin, argues these delusions have led many to believe that hierarchy and exploitation are simply the default settings of human beings.
