National Science Week celebrates talent and achievement in the fields of science, engineering, technology and innovation – and shows how science is interesting, challenging, important, and directly relevant to our daily lives.

It is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology – with more than one million people participating in over 1,000 events around Australia.

Tasmania will be hosting guest speakers from interstate and overseas, including microbiologist and science communicator, Dr Siouxsie Wiles from New Zealand; Josh Richards, a participant in the Mars One project; and the Future Crunch team, highlighting innovation and technology.

The inaugural Festival of Bright Ideas will showcase the best science in Tasmania in Hobart (15th August) and on the West Coast (20-21 August).

For all the details about the many events happening statewide please visit www.scienceweek.net.au or download the National Science Week App from the iTunes or Google Play stores.

In Tasmania, National Science Week is supported by Inspiring Australia, the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian government – and is co-ordinated by the Tasmanian Science Week Co-ordinating Committee, who work with event holders to develop and promote a statewide program of events.
