Pain, Pills and Ageing- Hobart

2013 Arthur Cobbold Memorial Lecture
Professor Kim Rainsford, Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Sciences Sheffield Hallam University UK, will deliver the Arthur Cobbold Memorial Lecture this August: “Pain, Pills and Ageing.”
The lecture will chaired byUniversity of Tasmania Vice-ChancellorProfessor Peter Rathjen.
Professor Rainsford’s research interests are principally on the modes of action and adverse reactions of anti-inflammatory/analgesic drugs and natural products used to treat pain, arthritis and other inflammatory diseases. He has focussed on the serious adverse side-effects of antiinflammatory/ analgesic drugs, currently a cause of major concern. He will discuss these problems and how to cope with them in the ageing population.
The Arthur Cobbold Memorial Lecture has been established by the University and Dr Elizabeth Cobbold as a memorial to Arthur’s contribution to the School of Medicine, and to medical education.
