Science in the Kitchen Garden – Edible Weed Walk

Another in Sustainable Living Tasmania’s series of Science in the Kitchen Garden Workshops.  Many common weeds are edible, free and can provide nutrient dense food to supplement your diet. However, harvesting weeds requires proper identification and certainty about potential environmental contaminants to ensure that foraging is safe. Join weed specialists, Paulette Whitney, Karina Potter and Andrew Crane on a walk from a suburban food garden to the South Hobart Rivulet, learning about which weeds are edible and how chefs prepare them as well as some of the ecological uses of weeds as soil improvers, soil indicators and compost additives. Cost: $10, $5 Conc, by donation for SLT members. http://sltweedwalk.eventbrite.com
