Thinking Outside the Box: New perspectives in Alzheimer’s research

The Menzies Institute for Medical Research is holding a free public lecture on exciting new directions in Alzheimer’s disease research. Professor Tracey Dickson will host the event and the topics will include:

  • Dr Owen Marshall discussing the packaging of DNA within cells and its role in Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Dr Brad Sutherland outlining his investigation of the role of pericytes, a cell that controls capillary blood flow, in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Dr Juanita Westbury will provide insights on translating research into practice to improve the care of those living with Alzheimer’s

Increasing rates of Alzheimer’s Disease are causing concern around the globe, but novel approaches by researchers at Menzies, UTAS School of Medicine and the Wicking Dementia Research & Education Centre, are shedding new light on how Alzheimer’s disease changes the brain and how this might translate to prevention and treatment.
